Gold-en Rules of Promoting Newsletter #28
***4 Easy Steps to Start Your Party Promoting Business***
October 10, 2007

Hey Promoters,

Last week, I wrote about the promoter 'busy season' coming up
and I guess it got a lot of people fired up to start promoting clubs
because I got more emails after sent that then I have in the
last year!

Just in case you missed it, check it out...

Well, a lot of people want to start promoting parties right away so
they too can cash in on Halloween, Thanksgiving Eve, and New
Years Eve, so I thought I'd write a quick "cheat sheet" or a
4 steps to take in order to get your promoting business
started right away...

The toughest part of any business is taking that first step to
get it going. People are scared of all the different mistakes
they could make or the challenges ahead, but the biggest mistake
you can make is to not TRY!

So here are a few quick steps to guide you in the right
direction:

1) Contact a Local Nightclub Promoter:
If you're just starting out and want to start promoting right
away, the EASIEST way to get in the business, is to work for
someone that is already an established promoter.

Tell them all the people that you know and/or your ideas of how
you are going to fill their venue each night. Show them how
you will make THEM money and they'll want you on their staff!

You'll get paid a fee for each person you can bring on your
list or they might pay you a "commission" per ticket you sell.

It won't be as much as you would get if you were throwing
your OWN party, but you are also taking less risk (you don't
put up any cash) and if you don't pull any people, you will
NOT lose anything.

So there is harm in trying!

...Once you have a place locked in to promote...

2.) Build a website.
By advertising yourself online through a website, you are
able to reach many more potential clients and guests than you
can by your own word-of-mouth.

Websites aren't difficult to build, and they're not that
expensive either. Most of the time, when you purchase a
domain name and hosting, you get access to a site builder
for dummies. This means template websites that are
basically all set up for you...you just customize it how you
like, add some pictures & details...and you're on your way.

You can have your new promoting business website up and
running in less than 24 hours!

On your site make sure you:
A) Explain who you are
B) Describe in as much DETAIL as possible your upcoming
parties (The DJ, what type of music, what type of crowd,
drink specials, etc)
C) Post Pictures (as soon as you get some)

Golden Tip:
You can, and eventually should, build a myspace, facebook and
friendster page for you promoting business...those are all
great tools to use, but there is still a much more
professional image that is given off by a "real" website.

Having your own website gives you instant credibility
opposed to everyone that has a myspace page.

...Now you have a place and website, now you need to fill the venue
with paying customers so that you can make some money off
of this party, so...

3.) Contact EVERYONE:
-Go through your cell phone and call everyone in your contacts
and let them know about "Your" party.

-Email everyone in your address book and let them know about
your party AND your website.

-IM everyone on your buddy list (be sure to send them a link
to your website)

-Post all the details about your parties on your personal
myspace, facebook and friendster pages.

-Mention your party to anyone and everyone you come in contact
with...people at work, at school, in the gym, anyone!

4.) Enlist the services of a few friends:
Grab a few people who can help you with your first party.
Don't be shy to ask friends and family for help. You are
starting a business and if you can use some help, make
sure you ask for it.

Jobs friends/Family can help you out with:
A) Someone to take down the names, e-mail addresses and phone
numbers of the guests at the party.

B) Someone that can take some pictures of the event and the
people that are attending it...you NEED these so you can post
them on your website...

C) Get a few people to help posting your flyers or handing out
your club passes.

D) Ask friends to help out with word of mouth (or email)
marketing in order to get your name and website out there FAST!

One last tip:
I suggest reading a great book on the subject, and really going
over the lessons that most party promoters have to figure out
on their own after years of experience. This will save you from
making serious mistakes...Skip all of the mistakes, and move
straight to the money part.

I happen to know one that will save you time and money...

Okay, I don't want to plug my guide too much, but the truth
is, you can never read too much about any business that you
are in, or are thinking about getting into.

If you don't read my guide, read SOMETHING on the subject and
learn the lessons from those that have done it before you and
see WHAT TO DO as well as WHAT NOT TO DO!

So, if you're interested in reading more details
