Gold-en Rules of Promoting Newsletter #26
***An Amazing Party Tip You Need to Try...Right Away***
September 12 , 2007

Hey Promoters,

I don't know about you, but I hate this time of the year...the
Summers over and it's time to go back to work or school.

Luckily I have two things that keep me from getting too depressed

1) Promoting season
2) Football season

As I've mentioned in the past, the summer is a very profitable
time of the year for me. The crowds on nights like Tuesday,
Wednesday and Thursday's are much bigger and the parties always seem wilder.

But the next few months have some of the biggest pay days of the year, which is why many in the promoting business refer to this time of the year as "promoting season"...but I'll get into that
another time.

Today I wanted to focus on something that has been making me
so much cash over the past few years that I can't believe it.
Each year, I make more and more money from it, yet I am still
surprised by its power...the football season.

Whether you are a fan of the game or not, it's something you
should get familiar with if you want to find additional ways
to make big money.

Every year I throw a big promoted Super-Bowl party. I wrote
about this in February...check out that article here:
http://partypromoterguide.com/news2.html

But in the past 2 years, I've started throwing a NFL kickoff
party on the Thursday night that the NFL season starts...and
they have been a huge success.

Last year I was in New York City so the game started at 8pm.
I used the game and drink specials to get people there for the
start of the game (which is on the early side for a NYC party)
and most people stayed through the end.

The game ended around 11pm which is primetime for a Thursday in New York City, so the timing was perfect!

All the people that were at the event were drinking and eating
for 3 hours so they weren't going home and a lot of people
that stayed in to watch the game called their friends to see
where they were (which was my party) so we drew an even bigger crowd when the game was over and everyone went out!

This year I was in Los Angeles so the game started right after
work. I decided to focus the party more with a happy hour/dinner theme. I put the party together pretty last minute, but sent a couple emails to friends that have corporate jobs in LA telling them to get their work friends and come on over.

The party was huge!

...I'm not saying I was the only NFL kickoff party in LA, but
it sure felt that way.

I've never drawn a bigger happy hour crowd in my life and the
crowd didn't stop coming until way after the game was over.

I wish I could tell you that everyone came because of me and
the great parties I throw...but in this case, I know everyone
was there just for the football...and that was fine with me!

The NFL has unbelievable drawing power and you should be sure
to take advantage of this. People associate drinking and eating
with football so when they go out to watch a game, you can be
sure they are there to do this.

If you don't know or like football, that is fine. You don't have
to sit around talking the game with people...just set up the
events!

Go to NFL.com and look at the schedule...and look for days with games that might be a good draw in your area. For example, if you live in Dallas or New York, you could've thrown a great Sunday night party last week to get people to a party on a night that is typically harder to draw a big crowd.

Use the NFL and other outside the box events to throw additional parties...it will only make you more cash!

This is ESPECIALLY true if you're a student at a college with
a big football program...you should ALWAYS throw parties based
around the team.

- Throw parties before the big game...
- Throw them after they win....
- Or Throw parties for everyone to get together and watch when
they are on the road....

Use the power of football and the crowds it draws to your
advantage!!!

Remember, people do get bored of the same old weekly party, so
use these outside the box ideas to keep your crowd coming back.

These types of parties will also draw a crowd that might not
have known about you or your other parties normally so this is
a great way to be exposed to people outside your typical
Friday / Saturday night party goers.

Golden Tip of the Week:

If you want to take it a step further to help keep things
exciting and people coming back each week, you can give away
prizes (t-shirts, food, drinks) based on in-game contests such
as the "box-game", "last man standing pools", final scores, etc.
(Disclaimer: I'm NOT suggesting illegal gambling)
